ABOUT LOOK TO THE GUT

Complex health problems deserve deeper answers.

Look To The Gut was created by Christina Cohan, certified in functional nutrition, to make difficult-to-find research on gut health, SIBO, MCAS, histamine intolerance, reflux, motility, and related conditions easier to find, understand, and actually use.

Hi, I’m Christina.

My own complicated experience with gut health, SIBO, mast cell activation and histamine intolerance completely changed the way I look at health.

I learned firsthand that when a condition isn’t well understood, even well-intentioned healthcare can sometimes leave patients without answers, and in a lot of cases feeling worse instead of better.

I also discovered something incredibly frustrating:

There is often far more information out there than patients ever hear about.

It’s buried in studies. Scattered across different medical specialties. Hidden behind terminology most people would never think to search for. Sometimes, the piece that finally makes something make sense isn’t found in one study at all.

That’s where connecting the research becomes so important.

I Don’t Just Find Research. I Connect It.

Research is one of my strongest skills, but what I love most is connecting the dots between different pieces of research.

I might start with a question about SIBO and end up following research into gastric acid, bile, motility, the migrating motor complex, the nervous system, medications, nutrient deficiencies, or immune function.

One paper leads to another. One mechanism raises another question. Findings from completely different areas of medicine can help us see a much bigger picture.

My Goal Is to Help You Get to the Why

When you’re dealing with SIBO, mast cell activation, histamine problems, reflux, motility issues, or other chronic symptoms, it can feel like the only option is to keep managing those symptoms forever.

But managing symptoms isn’t where I want you to stop.

Getting things calmer can give you the breathing room you need to dig deeper and start working on the underlying cause.

Why did this start? What’s contributing to it? What’s keeping it going? What hasn’t been investigated?

Those are the questions I want Look To The Gut to help you explore.

I want to help you dig deeper into the research, understand how different systems connect, uncover possibilities you may not have been told about, and find information you can investigate and bring to your healthcare providers.

The goal isn’t to spend your life chasing symptoms. It’s to understand what’s driving them and address the underlying cause.

Calm what’s happening now. Understand why it’s happening. Address what’s driving it.

Research First. Always.

Whenever possible, I go back to the actual research.

I look at the study population, dose, formulation, duration, outcomes and limitations, not just the headline.

I prioritize human evidence when it’s available and link to original research so you can read it yourself.

If the research doesn’t know the answer yet, I want you to know that too.

Why I Built Look To The Gut

When you’re dealing with complicated symptoms, you don’t just want another article telling you what your condition is. You want to know what you can actually do about it.

You want to know what hasn’t been investigated yet. What the research says. What options exist. What questions you should be asking. What you can bring to your doctor.

You may also need help finding a healthcare provider who actually understands what you’re dealing with.

That’s what I’m building here.

Look To The Gut brings together research libraries, practical guides, carefully researched product resources, tools, and an MCAS provider directory to make information easier to find and actually use.

I want you to leave here knowing more than you did when you arrived, with more avenues to explore and better questions to ask.
